While we don’t focus our attention on receiving recognition, it’s nice when it happens.
Each year, Restaurant Business Magazine lists the top 100 independent restaurants in the nation based on sales. This year, they reported that in 2022, Zehnder’s served 908,951 meals with an average guest check of $19. That placed us at #46 in the United States and #1 in the State of Michigan. We were one of three restaurants nationwide that served over 900,000 guests, and our $19 guest check average placed us as one of only four restaurants in the Top 100 that had a guest check under $20. The highest guest check average among the Top 100 was $650 at Alinea in Chicago!
The experiential travel guide, Taste Atlas, recently published their list of the 150 Most Legendary Restaurants in the World. Zehnder’s ranked #14 for our popular family style chicken dinner.
The online guide stated: “These establishments that have remained relevant and highly regarded in an ever-changing culinary landscape. Our list celebrates these enduring icons of gastronomy, the restaurants that prioritize substance over show, serving honest, no-nonsense food that is simply delectable.”
Recognition like this only happens because we have one of the best hospitality teams in the world and guests who reward us by coming back generation after generation. I am sincerely thankful and humbled by both.
