Gunzenhausen Platz Fountain

Apr 30, 2012

You have most likely noticed the construction occurring on the small peice of property along Main Street just east of our south parking lot. That city owned property is named Gunzenhausen Platz recognizing the Sister City relationship between Frankenmuth and Gunzenhausen Germany.

That Sister City relationship is one of the longest in the world spanning 50 years. In celebration and commemoration of that 50 year relationship the City of Frankenmuth, the Sister City Committee along with private donors (the Zehnder organization being one) is constructing a fountain.

The fountain, anticipated to be completed in late May, will be topped with a bronze pair of dancing figures sculpted by Midland artist James Ardis. A delegation of nearly 100 Gunzenhausen residents are expected for the dedication slated for Thursday, June 7, 2012.
