I think we’re in for a robust 2023 Michigan tourism season. From our own experience, speaking with some of my hospitality colleagues, attending trade shows and reading various trade association newsletters and websites; if the first quarter of this year is any indication, 2023 is shaping up to be a robust Michigan tourism season.
I read just the other day that 2023 is poised to be the hottest Great Lakes cruise season ever. Lodging advanced bookings are up and the golf industry anticipates another strong season. In addition, Michigan has a national reputation as a great destination for everything outdoors. With strong customer demand, pressure continues on an already competitive and challenging hiring climate.
A healthy tourism season will provide employment opportunities across the sector. Whether you’re looking for a summer job or a career, never has there been more competition and opportunity for great people. I try to attend as many of our new employee orientations as possible and communicate that we are always looking to attract, train and retain great people. We continue to hire as we get closer to our summer season and have openings in nearly each department and division. If you need job specific training, we provide that as well.
